Rock That Fashion Vlll… RECAP Round Up

Hey fab ones! As many of you know, its been about a week and a half since LA Fashion week. On Friday the 14th, Rock That Fashion Vlll took place at the swaggy Hollywood venue, Boulevard 3. A&M and RUNWAY made certain that Los Angeles was touched with a bit of New York Fashion Flair when the time came to “Rock That Fashion Vlll” because it was surely a night to remember. Many looks we observed, viewed, liked and looked upon.  Can you say RUNWAY the REAL WAY?!? At this event…. YES YES YES you can and we couldn’t have been more pleased!!!! You should have seen us, all wide eyed and bushy tailed as we took in the designer’s captivating creations. Some of the designers showcased included House of Devali, Meat Packing District, Datari Austin, and Puey Quinones, and a few others.

In addition to all of the “Rockin Fashion” that shook the runway, what we covet about this event is the fact that ALL of  the proceeds and donations go to VH1 Save The Music Foundation.  We are pleased that VH1 has taken the lead in doing something about saving the music in our schools and the fact the Rock That Fashion’s proceeds went to support the cause!  The crowd was immense and not only got a peek of what’s to come in fashion from some HOT designers; but also got their party on with performance enhanced designer collection intros…. YES, it was everything you’re thinking and more!! We have put together a few looks we found intriguing from the fun, fashionable, footloose, and fabulous event. Feel free to let the fashion move you and have a fabulously chic day!

Baby Shower Fresh

This past weekend I went to a baby shower and decided to take advantage of the warm weather we have been having in LA. I decided to pull out one of my fave skirts from years ago (that I paid $5.00 for). Though it may not have been the best option as I accidentally flashed my back side to half the room (sorry guys). For the shower  I wore a striped blazer from Forever 21 (that I purchased for $11) with my obsession kills tank top.  I paired the outfit with my MIA silver flats that I absolutely adore that were on sale for $25.00. This look was fun and a safe way to experiment with mixing prints as it was the same color scheme.

Try a Trend: Bunny Ears

Some trends catch on right a way and some take a while (in this case 5 years). It was 2009 when Marc Jacobs sent the first pair of bunny ears down the runway and left every slightly confused with this quirky headpiece. I immediately went on the hunt for one but there were no where to be found, at least in my price range. Fast forward down the line and Lagerfeld introduces the lace bunny ear. A bit more sleeker and sexier.  The the bunny ear has popped up here and there but it seems as though it has finally trickled down and become mainstream i.e. affordable. Check out a few of our favorites (for under $10.00) and let us know in the comments if this is a trend you are willing to try or if its a pass.

Try a Trend: Over the Knee Gladiator Sandals

Its safe to say that over the knee gladiator sandals are officially the sexy shoe for summer 2013. While many people have gotten the look right…a few have gotten it wrong. If you are daring enough to try this trend we recommend to let the shoe be the statement piece of the outfit. While this style shoe can cost a pretty penny we found a few options on ebay that will satisfy the need to try the trend without breaking the bank. We personally love the look with a mini shift dress. Check out a few options below and let us know how you would rock the trend.

From Runway to the Real Way: The Ear Cuff

ear cuff

Hey fab readers while checking out Rodarte Spring 2013 collection we noticed the blinged out ear. This look is definitely a show stopping. It screams look at me and it has the potential to be a style disaster quite easily. Even with that said we cant stop staring at it (as in it needs to be added to our accessories collection immediately) . This piece is definitely a conversation starter and while the ear piece can be pretty pricey we found a few fabulously chic and cheap ones below. Let us know if this is a runway look you will be rocking on the street or if this is one you rather leave on runway.

From the Runway to the Real Way: The Printed Suit

Hey guys..one of the trends that we are loving for Fall is the printed suit!! It’s chi, classic and a new staple for the professional fashion loving woman. This look made a splash on the runway and has made its way into many magazine spreads (think the infamous Prada suit that has graced every major fashion mag) however. Clearly  we cant help but figure out how can we make this look function in our everyday lives without getting too many stares on the streets (though we don’t really mind them). Thanks to ASOS (our fave online store) they have provided a modern, stylish approach to the printed suit that easily goes from day to night. Check out the looks below for some style inspiration for when it comes to trying one of Fall’s hottest trends.
